What are The Data Visionary Awards?
The Data Visionary Awards (also known as The Orbies) celebrate the boldest thinkers and builders in data & AI. This annual program recognizes Starburst customers and partners who are transforming their organizations and their industries through innovation, impact, and forward-looking data and AI strategies.

Why should I submit a nomination?
Winning a Data Visionary Award is a mark of distinction. It showcases your leadership in data, celebrates the success of your team or organization, and offers recognition at Starburst’s flagship event, AI & Datanova, held in New York City. Winners receive a custom-designed Orbie trophy and are featured in our official press release and promotional materials.
Who can submit a nomination?
Nominations can be submitted by:
- Starburst customers (individuals or teams)
- Starburst employees
- Starburst partners on behalf of customers
Note: If you are nominating a customer, please ensure they are aware and approve of the submission.
To be eligible:
- The nominee must be a current Starburst customer or active Starburst partner.
- The submission must align with the award category’s criteria.
- We recommend including at least one (1) measurable business impact metric (e.g. cost savings, revenue impact, AI adoption, time-to-insight improvement, etc.).
- Nominees must be able to accept the award under local laws.
Can I submit multiple nominations?
Yes! A company or individual may be submitted for more than one category. Be sure to tailor each submission to the specific award category and its criteria.
How will the winners be chosen?
A panel of Starburst leaders—including executives across product, sales, marketing, and customer success—will review all nominations. Winners will be selected based on innovation, business impact, and alignment with the award’s intent.
How and when will winners be announced?
Winners will be honored live at AI & Datanova on October 9, 2025, in New York City. They’ll also be featured in a global press release and celebrated on Starburst’s digital channels.
What is the deadline to nominate?
All nominations must be submitted by Friday, August 15, 2025.
Are there awards for partners, too?
Yes! In addition to customer honors, we’ll also recognize top-performing partners. The partner categories include:
- AI & Data Visionary Award – Recognizing standout partners in each region (Americas, EMEA, APAC)
- Implementation Partner of the Year – For excellence in execution, delivery, and customer value
Partner nominations follow a similar process and will be reviewed by Starburst’s partner and alliances team in collaboration with our executive panel.
